Earthoil and Organics

As both a grower and supplier of organic product, Earthoil knows how important it is to protect every stage of the organic process, from the growing of plants through to the processing and packaging of the product.

Since Earthoil started its very first plantation over five years ago we have seen the organic industry go from strength to strength. Earthoil believes that organic is the way of the future. More and more, consumers are demanding products that are free from traces of pesticides, herbicides and artificial fertilisers

Earthoil’s organic certification is undertaken the Soil Association, the UK’s largest certification body. Soil Association is a non-profit organisation overseen by UKROFS (United Kingdom Register of Organic Farm Standards) and accredited by IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements). Earthoil was first awarded with organic certification in the UK by the Soil Association in March 2002 and our warehouse is re-certified each year click here to view Earthoils organic certificate. New organic products sourced by Earthoil from around the globe, are individually reviewed by the Soil Association, and once approved, are added onto the Earthoil organic certificate.

Earthoil takes its organic certification very seriously and has implemented strict traceability procedures for both our own product and when purchasing product from other growers. This way our clients can always know as much as possible about the product they are buying.

Earthoil now have an impressive list of certified organic fixed and essential oils, and can provide a copy of the Soil Association organic certificate, to every client upon request. Earthoils organic certification number is: P8113.

Question: What is organic certification?
Answer:
Organic certification refers to the international guidelines which producers and marketers must adhere to when selling as organic - products such as food, personal care, textiles etc. These standards dictate that pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers must not be used in the growing or processing of these products. The implementation of these guidelines protects both the organic producer and consumer.

Question: What does traceability mean?
Answer:
Traceability is the term used to refer to the ability to ‘trace’ the origin of an organic product right back to source. This means that buyers can be confident of purchasing a 100% organic product - that the product has been grown and processed to certified organic standards.

Question: What about American organic standards – NOP?
Answer:
An increasing amount of Earthoil’s products are now NOP certified - the USA’s Department of Agriculture National Organic Program. Please contact us for our list of NOP certified product.
